Accessing and Using the CRF

Accessing and Using OUR FAcility

When your research project needs access to healthy volunteers or to NHS patients, the NIHR Sheffield Clinical Research Facility is able to provide the facilities and support to give your project the best chance of success. Our portfolio of experience includes all phases of clinical research, sponsored commercially or otherwise, across most directorates within Sheffield Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

A tailored solution is available at either of our CRF sites to provide you with specialist research nurses, clinical trial assistants, and clinical research data coordinators in a dedicated research facility fully equipped to support outpatient visits and overnight stays.

Patients or volunteers can be seen within the CRF, which has its own reception and waiting area embedded within a fully equipped suite of clinical spaces. Alternatively, our team of CRF research nurses can visit patients in their regular clinic environment anywhere within the hospital to minimise inconvenience to patients and embed research into standard care pathways.

Researchers are encouraged to make early contact with the CRF. This enables the team to make an initial review of the research protocol to see how we can support you. To view the application process please click on the link below

The CRF works hard to provide a friendly and supportive environment. Patients and healthy volunteers are guaranteed that research undertaken in the CRF has met all the legislative, governance and ethical requirements that ensure participant safety
