Acknowledging the NIHR in research outputs

NIHR Centres hold a contractual responsibility to acknowledge the NIHR in research publications, press releases and any other outputs.

We therefore ask that if your research was carried out in, or supported by the NIHR Sheffield CRF, you use the  appropriate disclaimer shown below.

Further information about acknowledging the NIHR can be found on the NIHR website.

NIHR Open Research

NIHR Open Research complements the NIHR Journals Library. Together they ensure findings from all NIHR funded research are publicly available. NIHR Open Research provides all NIHR-funded researchers with an additional option for publishing research findings which are not published elsewhere.

Submissions to NIHR Open Research are subject to editorial checks that ensure the robustness, quality, and transparency of the underlying research. Following these checks, articles are published Open Access before peer review, so that they can be viewed and cited as quickly as possible. Expert reviewers are then selected by the editorial team and invited, and their reports and names are published alongside the article. Authors are invited to revise their articles based on the outcomes of an open and transparent review process. Articles passing peer review are indexed in industry databases such as PubMed.

This model provides credit and visibility both for authors and reviewers while creating opportunities for collaboration. The platform publishes a wide variety of article types, covering all stages of a project or programme’s lifecycle, including method articles, study protocols, research articles, systematic reviews, data notes, case reports and clinical practice articles.
